In this scene, our hero/protagonist is giving Tilly's baby dolls pedicures. In the first photo, he's attending to the superficial podiatric needs of Roger, a baby doll that her Uncle Philip got from a garage somewhere. The other babies are named Baby, Baby, (Roger), and Amy.
Here Tilly is holding Baby Emma. I think she was pleased that she got to keep the nail polish.
