Tillybird,
The following thoughts came to me the other morning, sitting in a seminar at a law firm downtown in a nice conference room on the 21st Floor of the Wells Fargo Tower, learning about HUD financing and New Markets Tax Credits and such stuff:
The world is what it is, and it always has been. It's a fixed objective reality. There is goodness and evil, and at the moment it seems to me that everything originates from one of those two places.
That evolving dynamic, that creative tension, is an invitation to you to go out there and make sense of it...and make sense of how it appears to change while it's actually you that is changing over time.
The challenge isn't necessarily for you to change the world, or save the world. I have spent almost all of my adult life trying to position myself to do that. The world doesn't need saving. Neither you nor I are that important or powerful.
I now believe it's for you...and me and everyone...to seek and be able to recognize the good that's already out there in the world and be a leader in driving that goodness into new, uncharted territory.
That's it, my dear daughter. You are my favorite girl in the world, the love of my life. I am already proud of what you're going to do. I don't know what that is, but I know you are going to be something.
Love,
Dada
PS: I burned myself out on photos while Evel Knievel was visiting us in December. I promise I will get back at it soon.
