Home
Wednesday morning, 852 am, final check ups of Emma and Matilda are going on. As soon as the pediatrician comes in, we'll be bringing her home!
Extra Innings
Last one of the day...Matilda got to see her first Twins victory today when they beat Toronto 3-2 in 11 innings.

24
She's been here a day now. She is a total snuggler, she really loves being cozied up to me and to Emma. Her hearing is great, she doesn't have jaundice...she didn't flinch at blood being drawn. She's already watched her first Twins game on TV last night, too bad they blew it.
Her head is getting to its normal shape, her red hair seems to be blooming by the hour. I have changed my first few diapers. Speaking of which, gotta run.

As Promised, A Few Photos
Here she is! Couldn't love her more...she's sleeping with her mom right now. I am only posting a small handful...we HAVE to get some sleep, but these are a few of my favorites from today. Thanks for all the kind words in these posts, Facebook, attempts at phone calls (my phone was on vibrate and then the battery died). We'll try to rejuvenate tonight and get back to so many of you tomorrow.

She's here!
Matilda Louise arrived at 3:21 pm. She's a bit of slender one by Connolly standards, "only" 7 pounds, 4.4 ounces. But she's 21 inches long, and has red hair!! I will get pics up later today, as soon as I can.
But she's beautiful like her mom, tall like her dad, and she's perfect.

Seven
...centimeters.
The new nurse says that baby girl is low enough that Emma shouldn't even have to push much.
Knock on wood.

Analogies, Parallels and Things to Come
I feel like I have fallen in love with Emma all over again in the past 12-36 hours.
We've been together 5 years, and in that amount of time with anyone--friend, coworker, sibling, spouse--one can sometimes run the risk of thinking they have the other figured out.
I have learned differently today. I have seen sides of Emma that I haven't seen before, and that fill me with pride and awe.
And what that makes me think about is the adventure that lies before all three of us now...me getting to watch Matilda get out and open those eyes in the world, seeing it freshly through her eyes...me getting to watch Emma take on new roles...and maybe most fascinatingly, the new sides of myself that I know will be uncovered in the next 18-50 years of life on this planet with baby girl.
